In 1972, Government College Malerkotla expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of undergraduate courses such as BA, BA Hons in English, Punjabi, Hindi, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, and Urdu. The college responded to the changing needs of the society and expanded its curriculum to include courses in science as well. Today, the college offers a total of six undergraduate courses, including medical and non-medical streams, as well as ten Master's degree programs and two certificate courses.
